We have developed a special series of gifted and talented weekend workshops for this fall. These two-day programs include in-person sessions on Saturday with your choice of 9 AM - 12 PM or 2 PM - 5 PM; and virtual sessions on Sunday from 1 PM - 3 PM.
Outbreak: November 14 - 15
Have you ever wondered how epidemiologists study outbreaks of infectious diseases and what they can do to help prevent it from spreading? Race against the clock to solve a challenge where you and your socially distant teammates are tasked to find the antidote to save lives. You will also have a chance to explore ways that disease are spread and more while trying to understand what it takes to stop an outbreak! Sunday’s virtual session will include an opportunity to speak to epidemiologists working on the current pandemic.
Body Builders: Biomechanical Engineering December 5 - 6
Biomedical engineers combine a passion for biology and problem solving to create solutions that improve how the body functions. In this program, you’ll explore the skeletal system of the human body, the system that supports and protects the body while giving it shape and form. While learning about bone function, joints, fractures, you will be able to design your own cast and lower leg weight-bearing prosthetic utilizing the Engineering Design Process.
Health and Safety:
Students will be divided into groups of 10 or fewer students for the in-person sessions on Saturday. The sessions will take place in large rooms that allow for adequate social distancing. Masks are required for all students and staff.

The cost for each weekend workshop is $160.
